For the li-tel bugs
So fellas are going viral. A bit disconcerting based on the fact that a lot of what is said is based on cyber face value, referenced from the back seat and said behind masks. Breeding positivity is hard..
Gosh I would love to get on a blue bird every time someone says something incoherent, something sooo banal it evokes a frantic search for the un follow button.. but naah.. we live in a beautiful world where the color of your sneakers determine which social bubble you belong in. Wether you say count-tree, cow-n-tee or cant-ree we all have the right….to exist.
Our responsibility..? Our children..
We show our children how to perceive and react to the world by our actions. I will bring my mother into this because like most scorned black woman I inherited her beef. YEAH i got a whole cow grazing in the green!
A parent has two options. To either blame the world and everything in it for a failed marriage, four kids, meagre income and a scrapyard jungle for a backyard. OR…. To get up with dem birds, spade, rake and black bags in hand, equipped to clear out the junk.
My mom cooked for us, she got on her knees and cut the grass for us. And although she couldn’t attend our school recitals or evening parents meetings she handled the immense task with strength, perseverance and an unbridled love that from time to time, it overwhelmed the live embers of a deep rooted bitterness. So yeah she still got beef.
My point is, I am my mother’s child. I choose to keep my head above the din of the “crab in the bucket” plague.
AHA MOMENT You can not tend to the whims of a mob whose primary mission is to devalue the very little you have, who undermine the smallest light that you carry above your head a light that you want to share with the world. In my dreams, an old man gnarled and crooked by my minds eye whispered in my ear that people would rather get on a moving bus rather than an idle one.. As the driver of this double decker there is still a lot of room as I pull out of the depot. And sure I will make a couple of stops along the way, letting peeps on and off. All I pray for is the courage and strength to get into first gear after each stop.
From my heart: God bless my family, my true friends, my passengers and all the lil bugs on my windscreen.

MIXTAPE MONDAY::: The lost pieces of Za’uQ
The spoken work is normally relegated to smoky backyard rooms where the creative consciousness continuously brews the language of life and gives a recorded face of the absolute experience… Vocal percussionists reduce the ordinary into somewhat of an event worthy of a celebration, worthy of a poem.. And lets face it there is nothing cuter than a man who knows how to use his words..
Richard ”Quaz” Roodt is a writer, Pirate radio dj, Blogger, Content producer ,creative activist and performance artist originally from Potchefstroom in the North West Province. He experiments with various art mediums which include s performance poetry, writing, Theater free styling, Emceeing,Music production, video, photography and graphic design.
“The lost pieces of Za’uQ is a collection of spoken word inspired music by poet/emcee Quaz. The underlying theme speaks of being trapped and in essence either losing or finding pieces of yourself.
This is Quaz’s 4th studio release. Sam English (who also put the artwork together) designed the soundscape and produced all the music, except track 2 (by 63rd Iron mic’s Massy Mas).” And dj Kuttin Keith/Slang Audio records for doing the recordings.

MIXTAPE MONDAY::: CJM Sampler vol. 2
Should change this column to FREE MUSIC MONDAYS… lmao…
I was introduced to Creative Juice Music when i had to put together a mix for The Beat Factory by way of Ide the Shanty One. This initial contact opened me up to a family of true heads whose mission is to preserve the little that is left of the Real hip hop fraternity.
Creative Juice Music (CJM) opened its doors in 2000 boasting an “international fanbase with a catalog of releases featuring artists such as DJ Revolution, Ill Bill, Necro, Thirstin Howl the 3rd, Smif n Wesson, The Outsidaz, The Executioners, Arsonists, Killah Priest, Termonology, Jeru The Damaja, Brooklyn Academy, Snow Goons and more.” Now the stable houses names like “Jise (Arsonists), U.G. (The Dwellas) new school luminaries IDE, Alucard, I Am Many (formally Many Styles), battle champions Critical (Grindtime, World Rap Championships) and Nems (MTV Fight Klub, Braggin Rites, E.O.W. MC Challenge)”.
It sounds a bit conceited to hammer on a bout what is real hip hop and what isnt, but i feel this title is befitting to CJM and this project because of the raw appeal and the straight up Super Sayan lyrical monsters that this project packs.
CHECK THIS:::The first single off the new album Strength In Numbers, Official Video for I Am Many’s Posers, produced by Logik Proof is a clear banger. It raises a serious concern amongs heads.. who is real and who is straight up posing?
“..but now a days lil F***ers dress to impress, they represent a style but dont know what this style represents, because [they are] are posers..”
But before you run out calling peeps posers heed this warning from l Am Many himself.
“……… Remember, you can’t call someone a “poser” unless you know what they’re “posing” as.. I am, have been, and will always remain true to the various cultures of music, one love….”
“Download the new Creative Juices sampler for free. Volume 2 contains a variety of songs
from the CJM roster including features from Killah Priest, Roc Marciano, Ill Bill, Blacastan,
Little Vic and Dontique.”
Guess I should give you the link now..right? lol

Dear father christmas.. YOU fukd up! and even if my resolutions are being destroyed daily I discovered that maybe my christmas pressy list should be someone else’s responsibility. Like a middle aged, wealthy-typa brother who relishes South Africa’s balmy christmas eves and damp new years days.
I cuddle my happy meal close.. A great year on the real.. I dabbled in radio, dropped a couple of mixes, finally serviced my car and went camping!
So why am i doing this? The music i mean. I am terrified most of the time, my stomach flips, my sweat glands go in overdrive, i want to run for the door and out into the streets. An emotional wreak!!
The answer is simple. Music calms me, really it does. lol. Its a dose of reality that keeps me high long after the munchies.

MIXTAPE MONDAY:: Words From Her
Launched 1 October 2011 and probably the most slept on mix-tape this side of the woods, the Words From Her mix-tape brought together some of the most talented females under Slang Audio Entertainment. Its an eclectic mix of poetry, hip hop, soul and the in between.
According to Tonight the tape “seeks to delve into the contribution women made (and still make) to the running of this country [it also] features original compositions about women by women..”
I pikd up a mix by Dj Davina Santori (just the highlights). I am not sure what the distribution channel is on this one, but as soon as I track Slang.. Ill link it up..
